Racing
We will be competing in the British Superbike Championship this year in association with Blackhorse Kawasaki.
Blackhorse Kawasaki is under the management of the highly successful and respected racer Ian Lougher and is the official Kawasaki Superstock 1000 and Superstock 600 team in BSB.
Ian has 10 Isle of Man TT wins, 8 International North West 200 titles (he has been on the winners rostrum every year since 1997), 14 Ulster Grand Prix victories, the most Southern 100 (Isle of Man) race wins eclipsing the legendary Joey Dunlop, the outright circuit win record of 126 race wins at Oliver's Mount, England's only 'pure' road race track. Ian is competing himself with the Kawasakis on the roads in 2010.
Riding the 1000cc machine in BSB will be Manxman Conor Cummins.
Conor had an impressive year in 2009 which included two TT podiums, becoming only the third rider in history to record an official 130+mph TT lap, an outright lap record at the Southern 100, a world record lap of 133.28mph at Dundrod where he won two Superbike races on the McAdoo Kawasaki, and most recently, runner-up at the Macau GP riding one of Paul Birds factory Kawasaki superbikes. At BSB in 2009 Conor continue to mature and learn under the guidance of Ian Lougher and a solid season in the British Superstock Championship saw him secure an excellent top ten finish in the championship.
Conor is already recognised as one of the UK’s most talented road racers, and one of its current hottest prospects and we are pleased that we delighted we can continue to work with him in 2010 building on our suceses of the past few years.
Solway have had a long and successful association with former British 125 Champion, Manx Grand Prix and 4 time TT winner, Chris Palmer and are pleased to be working with Conor, Ian and Chris again in 2010.
